run in shell:
update-alternatives --config java
You should get simillar results to this:
+ 2 /usr/lib/jvm/ia32-java-6-sun/jre/bin/java* 3 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java
in this case you need copy mail.jar to:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/lib/ext/
