We were trying to start a java application with this script. We solved it with the following:
When passing UTF-8 arguments to a java program via the commandline, the sun.jnu.encoding property must be set on the java program. The usage of file.encoding is not enough, this is because the main class is influenced by AWT classes for which the encoding is set by the sun.jnu.encoding property -Dsun.jnu.encoding=UTF-8
