Following your post, I decided to make some additional tests, and I concur with your findings.
Note that the bug is only with the columnName property. tableName does support quotes in existing tables (there is a related bug when Tersus tries to create tables with quotes, see bug #174)
It seems that, if possible, you should use all lowercase names with no quotes, which would also improve portability by making it easier to switch to another database altogether.
But, I guess you're accessing existing data sources, whose schema cannot be changed.
