The Company designs, manufactures, develops, builds, owns and operates geothermal and REG power plants. Ormat's products and business activities are based on its original ORMAT(R) ENERGY CONVERTER (OEC), a field-proven technology for utilization of low and medium temperature heat sources, in which Ormat is the world leader. Ormat, the third largest geothermal producer of electricity in the United States, is a pioneer in Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology, and a leader in the manufacture of ORC power equipment.Over the years, ORMAT has built for itself a sophisticated planning and control system (PCS). The PCS is used daily by hundreds of engineers and other role players while designing, engineering, manufacturing and constructing power plants.Starting in mid 2004, ORMAT has started a big software development project to replace the PCS by a modern, enhanced web-based system. The new system, called ORMAT Management System (OMS), will replace the existing system while adding important functionality.ORMAT chose to develop the OMS internally because no commercially available software has been identified as sufficient for ORMAT's requirements and desire to retain its competitive advantage. ORMAT chose Tersus Software to build the OMS due to the short time to market and high flexibility provided by the Tersus Platform.Prior to starting the major development project, and as a proof of the capabilities of the Tersus Platform, Tersus Software provided ORMAT with two modules, which will later become part of the integrated OMS system:

Plant Performance Monitoring: Receive daily information about each site's performance conditions, environmental conditions and technical status, and enhances the information with estimates of “potential” output (maximal potential in the given environmental circumstances assuming that the plant functions well).

Budget Tracking: Tracking expenses and commitments and comparing them to the budget. Information about each site's budget and expenses (in the form of purchase orders and job cost reports) is fed into the system and is used to display Budget vs. Actual and Budget vs. Committed reports.

The goals of the OMS are:

To provide a common platform for the entire ORMAT group to manage and report all operation activities

To empower every unit to manage and review its tasks, planning and execution

To summarize the activities of all units up to the global group level

The full OMS system will also include the following modules and capabilities:

MRP: production scheduling, stock order control.

SCM: supplier management, purchasing control, shipment tracking, goods and service receiving tracking.

Shopfloor Management.

Inventory Management.

ERP: inventory and warehouse management, plant maintenance, limited engineering design capability.

CRM: customers management, delivery planning, packaging, shipment tracking, invoice generation.

PDM: item master file maintenance, BOM maintenance and reporting, engineering change management, integration with BOM engineering design system (UGS Teamcenter).

Project Management: projects initiation, project tree (EPL) maintenance and reporting, procurement control, costing calculations, limited MS-Project connectivity.

Finance: budget planning and control, accounts payable and accounts receivable functionality, integration with Ormat's major accounting systems (Oracle).

HR: organization chart, timesheet reporting.

Management reporting system.

Support for multiple languages, multiple currencies, multiple sites and multiple business entities.

Security management at multiple organizational levels and multiple functional components.

Compliance to Sarbanes Oxley requirements: auditabilty, traceability and access control.

All the information is made available for various stakeholders worldwide (operators, site managers, corporate managers, corporate engineers, accountants, and others) through a permissions-based, secure web interface.The OMS system is in operational use since the middle of 2006, with gradual introduction of new functionality.See Also:
