The details column next to the Invalid Trigger error in the validation view probably explains that the <Selector> trigger has no type defined (and neither does the Response exit leading to it).
Types are mostly assigned via the type propagation mechanism, but in certain cases, such as this one there is no initial type from which to propagate.
Since my demo which you based yours on assumes the PHP script returns a text response ('Success' or 'Failed'), you should set <Selector> to the text type by dragging a Data Types/Text element from the palette and dropping it over the trigger.
