If the iphone application and the units with which it needs to communicate are in the same WiFi network, then combining UDP and Tersus could work.
This would require writing a PhoneGap plugin to handle UDP communication, while the GUI / Application logic can be created with Tersus. This integration will require knowledge of iOS, PhoneGap and Tersus so I guess our team will best positioned to do it.
If you're looking at an iOS only application then going with a pure Objective C approach is certainly something worth considering. Tersus would have a lot of value if the communication layer is relatively simple and stable while the rest of the application will continue to evolve.
