The example is of a stand alone (client-side only) application, but it can of course be extended to include synchronization with a server database.
Synchronization should be modeled per your application needs, and in simplistic terms involves a client-side process reading the data and sending it to a Service process which converts and writes the data to the server-side database, and vice-versa.
In order for the client to be able to reach the correct service (on the correct server) you'll need to employ one of the strategies outlined in http://www.tersus.com/#Id=2820.
